2023 TSF Indiana OPOY: Josh Ringer

The hardware just keeps stacking up for East Central (15-0) running back Josh Ringer, who was named the TriState Football Indiana Offensive Player of the Year for a second straight season as TSF paid tribute to the area’s finest from Cincinnati, Northern Kentucky, Dayton and Southeast Indiana at the Year in Review Show on Monday night, in front of a packed house at the Holy Grail in downtown Cincinnati.
Ringer hit the pinnacle of all accolades by being named 2023 Indiana Mr. Football. He joins Josh Martini (1994) as the only East Central players to win the prestigious award.
Ringer had one of the most prolific campaigns by a running back that the Hoosier state has ever seen in 2023, helping the Trojans to back-to-back Class 4A State Championships. The senior ran for 2,880 yards (16th highest single season total in Indiana history), averaged 10.3 yards per carry and found the end zone 60 times (55 rush, five rec). He also had 13 receptions for 278 yards (21.4 yds/rec) and 3,237 all-purpose yards. His 360 points scored is tied for fifth most in a season in Indiana in history.
Ringer, who is already enrolled at Miami (OH), ends his career with 6,640 yards rushing (14th most in Indiana history), 110 rushing touchdowns, 42 receptions, 774 yards receiving, eight touchdown catches, 7,586 all-purpose yards, 118 total touchdowns and 708 points scored (ninth most in Indiana history).
Josh and brother Sam, the 2021 TSF Indiana DPOY, are just one of four sets of brothers to be named TriState Football Players of the Year. They join East Central schoolmates Dylan (2023 TSF Indiana DPOY) & Alex Maxwell (2018 TSF Indiana OPOY), Covington Catholic’s AJ (2017 TSF Kentucky OPOY) & Michael Mayer (2019 TSF Kentucky OPOY & 2018 TSF Kentucky DPOY) and Colerain’s DeShawn (2019 TSF Cincinnati DPOY) & Orlando Pace Jr. (2018 TSF Cincinnati DPOY) in the exclusive group.
TriStateFootball.com was founded in 2005 and started its postseason awards for the Indiana Offensive Player of the Year in 2010.
