TROY, Ohio – In a tightly contested battle, the Middies held on to knock off the Trojans and open their season in the win column.

After holding a two-score lead heading into halftime, Middletown had to recover a late onside kick to ensure the victory over the hard charging Trojans. Troy found the endzone late in the fourth quarter on a 22-yard passing touchdown, followed by a successful two-point conversion to bring Troy within 10.

Big plays were the calling card for the Middies offense, scoring on both a 65-yard pass play and a 36-yard rushing touchdown in the fourth quarter to pull away from the Trojans and put the game on ice.
