It was another great night of conference play across Southwest Ohio, including some big matchups inside the Eastern Cincinnati Conference.
NO. 14 MILFORD 19, LOVELAND 12
The Eagles took a bit to take off on Friday night, but then scored 19 second-half points to put away a gritty Loveland team in a hard-fought contest.
Luke Brand passed for 177 yards and a touchdown on 18-of-29 passing and rushed for 14 yards and another score to lead the way in the win. Teammate Jordan Davis netted 82 yards and a TD of his own on 12 carries. Cayden Bailey led the team with 58 yard receiving, including a 3-yard TD catch.
With tonight’s win, Milford head coach Tom Grippa becomes the school’s all-time winningest coach with 54 victories since his arrival in 2017. He surpassed Jim Prather who amassed 53 from 1984-1986. Coach Grippa holds a career record of 229-126, including 54-27 at Milford.
NO. 12 KINGS 28, NO. 25 WEST CLERMONT 10
The Knights scored a 21-point fourth quarter to get past the Wolves in a key ECC clash in a battle of two teams that entered the week ranked inside the Top 25 in the Blitz 5 Top 25.
Kings got three rushing touchdowns from senior Carson Lindholm to break open a contest that was tied at 10-10 at the end of three quarters. Lindholm finished the evening with 197 yards on 19 carries and added a 16-yard catch.
The Knights’ D played a huge role in the victory, holding West Clermont to just 38 total yards and forcing three turnovers. Brent Lockwood and Trent Hogan each had an interception and Caden Walker came up with a big fumble recovery in the win.
NO. 18 HAMILTON 7, NO. 21 MASON 3
It was a true black and blue battle inside the GMC on Friday as the Big Blue and the Comets traded blows. Both defenses caused havoc as each squad turned the ball over three times in the contest.
POSTGAME INTERVIEW: Arvie Crouch, Hamilton
Hamilton ceded just 101 yards of offense to Mason and got just enough of their own with running back Gracen Goldsmith rushing for163 yards the game’s only touchdown on 22 carries. The senior is now averaging 106.8 yards per game, but has fumbled in two of the last three outings.
On defense, Luke Ollis and Eckly Bridges recovered a fumble and Marlon Reed added a pick to lead the way.
