Cincinnati Round-Up: Raptors Romp
- Updated: September 20, 2024
Teams were in midseason form as top teams battled in the GMC and ECC in our Cincinnati round-up.
NO. 5 ANDERSON 41, NO. 11 KINGS 0
Anderson and Kings engaged in a big time ECC battle on Friday night. A big-time offensive display by the Raptors led to a dominating performance. Justice Burnam led the charge for the home team as he dished the ball around to a bevy of wideouts all night.
Burnam was also a terror for the Knights on the ground as the quarterback rushed for two touchdowns and passed for another three scores in the win. Burnam passed for 321 yards and rushed for 81 yards as well. Caden Piening, Aiden McClanahan, and Trace Jallick all hauled in touchdown catches for the high scoring offense.
In the end it was Anderson who came away with the dominating win. The Anderson Raptors, known for their prolific offense have been getting it done on defense this season as they produced yet another great game.
These two could see each other again come playoff time as they have in the past.
NO. 3 LAKOTA WEST 51, NO. 10 MIDDLETOWN 7
Lakota West went on the road and came away with a key GMC victory over Middletown on Friday night. The Firebirds defense came into the game on a mission and never let their foot off of the gas by shutting down the Middletown offense.
Offensively West jumped out to a 34-0 halftime lead and was led by dual threat quarterback Sam Wiles who was a headache for the Middies. Wiles did major damage on the ground as well as in the air to lead his team to victory. He rushed for two scores and passed for another. Kenyon Norman, Braydon Johnson, and Lashawn Williams all rushed for scores as well. They rushed for 361 yards on the ground as a team. West has scored 50 plus points in back-to-back weeks. With the win the Firebirds stay in the hunt for a conference title.
Joseph Ward scored the lone touchdown for the Middies.
NO. 9 LA SALLE 43, WITHROW 19
The La Salle Lancers broke open a close game in Hyde Park and marched past Withrow on Friday night. Walter Berry, Devin Byrd, Ty Brown, Patrick McLaughlin, and David Malone all scored touchdowns for the Lancers.
McLaughlin scored twice as the Lancers used a potent rushing attack to gash the Tigers. After a close first half, the Tigers seemed to run out of gas as La Salle kept their foot on the gas to pull away for the road win. The undefeated Lancers will face Moeller in a big time GCL South battle next week.
