Clinton-Massie topples Harrison
- Updated: September 21, 2024
CLARKSVILLE, OH – Coming into the contest as an underdog, Clinton-Massie used the ground
game to pound out an upset victory at home over the previously undefeated Harrison Wildcats.
After falling behind 10-0 early in the contest, the Falcons were able to find success in droves
against the Wildcats defense through the legs of their running backs, racking up 301 yards on
the ground. Junior halfback Eli Muterspaw led the way for Clinton-Massie, finding the end zone
on two separate occasions; the first time on a 17-yard scamper past the Wildcats defense.
The second score by the Falcons running back, however, was the most crucial. Late in the third
quarter of play, Muterspaw found a running lane and took it 68-yards to the house, and put the
game on ice. Senior running back Logan Chesser also found the endzone on a 2-yard rush in
the second quarter.
Harrison suffered their first defeat of the season, despite racking up 248 yards of rushing on
their own. Senior running back Cole Koops rushed for 203 yards on his own on 25 attempts.
Senior quarterback Dickie Engel also had a decent showing, throwing for 168-yards through the
air, in addition to 27 yards and a score on the ground.
Despite out gaining Clinton-Massie in total yards 411-344, the Falcons rushing attack was too
much for the Wildcats to handle.
