East Central handles Batesville
- Updated: September 21, 2024
ST. LEON, IN – East Central continued their trek on the comeback trail, picking up a second-
straight victory with a convincing win over visiting Batesville, 24-13.
After the game started out as a defensive battle, it was Batesville who punched first, opening
the game’s scoring with a 10 yard rushing touchdown by senior quarterback Will Jaisle.
The Trojans made an emphasis on getting the ball in their rising-star running back Ryan Minges
hands. Proclaimed “Engine No. 9”, the sophomore backed up a 262-yard performance last week
with another triple-digit performance on the ground, rushing for 111 yards on just 14 carries in
the Trojans win.
Minges answered quickly to Batesville’s opening rushing touchdown with another touchdown of
his own, finding the open space to drive home a 20-yard rushing touchdown.

Minges wasn’t the only component of the East Central offense firing on all cylinders, however.
Junior quarterback Nolan Maple was consistent and dependable throughout the evening,
throwing for 134 yards on just 8 total completions. Additionally, Maple was able to connect early
with junior receiver Elijah Selhorst. While Selhorst didn’t have many receptions, the young
wideout made them count, racking up 82 yards on just three total receptions.
Batesville did all they could to fight back with their solid offensive attack, but costly turnovers,
including an interception thrown to East Central freshman Troy Sebastian, kept the Bulldogs
from staying competitive in the game. The Trojans dominated the line of scrimmage as well,
finding three total sacks of Jaisle.
Despite the sacks and turnovers, the Bulldogs valiant effort to keep themselves in this game fell
short. After Batesville found the endzone on a 1-yard run by sophomore Carson Hartley, East
Central was able to find even more running room on the Batesville defense late in the fourth,
capping off a game-sealing drive with a touchdown run by sophomore Colton Bellman.
