2024 TSF Dayton DPOY: Ronnie Butler

It was a great night for Xenia linebacker Ronnie Butler who was honored as the TriState Football Dayton Defensive of the Year, as TSF paid tribute to the area’s finest from Cincinnati, Northern Kentucky, Dayton and Southeast Indiana at the TriState Football Year in Review Show on Monday night, in front of a packed house at the Holy Grail in downtown Cincinnati.

Butler was the centerpiece of a Xenia defense that held seven of its first nine opponents (all wins) to eight points or less on the way to a 10-2 finish. He tied for the MVL lead in tackles with 153 and also had a sack, eight-and-a-half sacks, four forced fumbles, four fumbles and two pick-sixes. Butler also earned OPSMA Division II First Team, OPSMA Division II Southwest District DPOY, MVL DPOY and Third Team All-TSF accolades for his work.

Butler, a four-year starter, finished his career at Xenia with 395 total tackles, seven sacks, 29.0 tackles for losses, six forced fumbles and 10 takeaways (seven FRs, three INTs).

Other 2024 TriState Football Dayton Defensive Player of the Year finalists were seniors Royce Rachel (Badin), Jacob Taylor (Centerville), Aidan Weimer (Springboro) along with juniors Cesar Berryman (Valley View), Collin Isaac (Tippecanoe), Royce Rogers (Springfield) and Jamarcus Whyce (Trotwood-Madison).

This is the 16th year of this award and Butler is the first Buccaneer to be named the TSF Dayton Defensive Player of the Year.
