Sitting at 2-3, Centerville (11-4) found itself doing some soul searching midway through the 2024 regular season. The Elks dug down deep and caught fire reeling off nine straight wins and capturing the schools first regional crown since 1991 and third in program history. Those efforts saw Centerville be named the 2024 TriState Football Dayton Team of the Year as TSF paid tribute to the area’s finest from Cincinnati, Northern Kentucky, Dayton and Southeast Indiana at the TriState Football Year in Review Show on Monday night, in front of a packed house at the Holy Grail in downtown Cincinnati.

Defense fueled Centerville’s nine-game winning streak and run to the Division I, Region 2 title. During that span, the Elks allowed just 8.7 points, held all nine of their victims to 14 points or less with two shutouts and the unit had a +13 turnover margin (17-4). Six of the nine victories came against GWOC rivals Beavercreek, Springboro and Wayne.

Several Centerville players earned All-Ohio, All-Southwest District and All-TSF honors. Senior offensive lineman and Iowa State signee Koul Kuol was named OPSMA Division I First Team All-Ohio and First Team All-TSF. Senior kicker Leland Gantz was named OPSMA Division I First Team All-Ohio and First Team All-TSF. Senior defensive lineman Mason Keely was named OPSMA Division I First Team All-Ohio. Senior linebacker Jacob Taylor was named OPSMA Division I Second Team All-Southwest District, TSF Dayton Defensive Player of the Year Finalist and Honorable Mention All-TSF. Junior quarterback Shane Cole was named OPSMA Division I Honorable Mention All-Southwest District, TSF Dayton Offensive Player of the Year Finalist and Honorable Mention All-TSF. Senior linebacker Jackson Puckett was named OPSMA Division I Honorable Mention All-Southwest District. Junior running back Parker Johnson was named OPSMA Division I Honorable Mention All-Southwest District. Sophomore defensive back Ziere Alston was named OPSMA Division I Honorable Mention All-Southwest District. Brent Ullery raised his record to 58-34 in eight years as the Elks head coach.

This is the 16th year of this award and the first that Centerville has been named the TriState Football Dayton Team of the Year.
