HUBER HEIGHTS, Ohio – Greater Western Ohio Conference foes Wayne and Springboro combined for 71 points Friday night in a track meet won by the Warriors 48-23.
Wayne jumped out to an early 14-0 lead, thanks to a 72-yard TD run by Isaiah Thompson and a 35-yard TD pass from Kye Graham to Semarion Sroufe. But the Panthers would cut it to 14-7 at the end of the first quarter with a 4 yard rushing TD by Mattias Brunicardi.
Graham would go on to toss two more touchdown passes in the second quarter, as the Warriors would take a 27-17 lead into halftime.
The Warriors would put the game away in the third, scoring three more times – Graham’s fourth TD pass of the game, in addition to a pick-six returned for a score by Sean Heisle and a rushing score by Jamier Averette-Brown, to make it 48-17.
A TD toss late in the third quarter by Springboro QB Max Miller, to wideout Noah Billinski, would make it a 48-23 game, which was the final.
Graham went 17-27 for 318 yards and four touchdowns for Wayne, with both Averette-Brown and Sroufe each having more than 100 yards receiving and three touchdowns between them. Thompson also rushed for 164 yards on 19 carries and one score.
Springboro falls to 2-2 on the season after starting 2-0, while Wayne evens their record at 2-2.
