Elder linebacker Derek Uran has been tabbed the 2025 OPSMA Division I Southwest District Defensive Player of the Year. The senior has terrorized opposing backfields for a stellar Panthers defense that allowed just 11.8 points per game and helped the school to its fourth undefeated regular season in program history. The Virginia-commit has recorded 85 tackles, 20.0 tackles for losses, 8.5 sacks, three pass breakups, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery and one interception.
Running back Ryder Hooks had one of those magical senior seasons for Lakota East (8-4). Hooks ran for 2,032 yards (169.3/game), amassed 2,802 all-purpose yards (2,33.5/game), had 25 receptions for 400 yards and 24 total touchdowns (19 rush, three rec, two KRs). He ran for more than 100-yards nine times including four games of 240-plus yards with a career high of 321 yards rushing against Colerain. Those efforts have earned Hooks the 2025 Division I Southwest District Offensive Player of the Year. He also played defense and had at least one tackle in every contest and finished with 37 tackles, three tackles for losses, with six pass breakups, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery with three interceptions and a pair of pick-sixes.

Doug Ramsey guided Elder to the school’s fourth unbeaten regular season and first since 1991 as well as the #1 overall seed for the Division I, Region 4 playoffs. The Panthers now stand at 11-0 for the first time in program history. Elder has beaten seven teams that currently have eight wins or more. Those impressive credentials have led to Ramsey being named the 2025 OPSMA Division I Southwest District Coach of the Year This is Ramsey’s 30th season at the helm at Elder, he has compiled a 234-107 mark.
