By the time the 2023 season had ended the Western Brown football program was at its apex after its fourth straight playoff appearance which included all six of the schools postseason victories. Since then the Broncos have gone a combined 6-14 including a 3-14 mark over their last 17 contests.
With five starters back on offense and six returning on defense head coach Nick Osborne looks to get the men from Mount Orab back to playing football in November again. It won’t be easy as Osborne will need a raw but promising sophomore class to step up and replace the productivity left behind by the graduated seniors and then some.
The offensive line will be a strength of this club led by Clayton “Cledus” Smith and Emmanuel Gibbs. With a year under his belt, quarterback Deon Bradford is poised for a monster junior campaign. There will be huge battles for playing time at running back and receiver. This is where hungry underclassmen will have plenty of opportunities to shine.
The Broncos defense has to take its performance to the next level if this team wants to get back to the playoffs. Linebacker Adam Pena is the centerpiece of the unit. Classmate Peyton Day has all-district talent. Defensive end Nash Scroggins is primed for a breakout year. If the Broncos can show that they have some depth and pride in the trenches being one of the 12 teams left standing in Week 11 will not be out of the question for Western Brown.
