Colerain and #19 Fairfield, the Cardinals saw what had been a commanding two-score lead disappear, and possibly even the chances of a key conference win slipping away.
But given another chance to seal the deal in overtime, the Cardinals did as junior quarterback Roman Gary hooked up with wideout Aaron Jacobs on a 17-yard touchdown pass in the extra period to give Colerain a nail-biting 34-28 conference victory.|

It was a game that saw the Cardinals in control, leading 28-14, until roughly the three minute mark in the fourth quarter. Fairfield drew to within one score after a 15-yard touchdown pass from senior QB Sean Clore to wideout Tristen Lofton, making it 28-21. Then the Indians got the ball back and drove into the Colerain red zone, where Axsel Rodgers punched it in from one yard out as time expired in regulation to knot the game at 28 apiece.
The frenzied comeback for Fairfield, however, fell short in the extra period.
Colerain moves to 2-2 on the season, and 2-1 in the GMC, marking the first time since 2022 they have won two games in the regular season, while Fairfield falls to 1-3 overall and 0-3 in the GMC.
