Friday Night TSF Blitz: Week 6

Chalk held in most of the Week 6 matchups taking place Friday night around Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky, but there were some major upsets of unbeaten teams sprinkled in as well.

PRINCETON FLEXES MUSCLE

The top-ranked Princeton Vikings can mark another challenge off their 2026 schedule.

Friday night at Lakota East, the Vikings cruised to a 48-22 victory over the #7 Thunderhawks to improve to 6-0 on the season and 5-0 in the Greater Miami Conference, maintaining a one-game lead over #3 Lakota West and #9 Middletown.

It was the Jordan Hall show, as he put the Vikings on his back by rushing for 140 yards and four touchdowns. His backfield teammate, quarterback Key’Sean Torbert, ran for 130 yards and a touchdown while also throwing for 227 yards and another score.

Princeton took a 28-14 lead into halftime and extended it with two more scores in the third quarter to put the game out of reach.

Lakota East’s Nile Knutson was 18-of-27 through the air for 247 yards and two touchdowns, but also tossed a costly interception in the loss.

The loss drops Lakota East to 4-2 on the season and 3-2 in the GMC.

AROUND THE TRI-STATE

CINCINNATI

No. 8 St. Xavier 31, No. 2 Elder 29

St. Xavier had been struggling heading into its Week 6 matchup with #2 Elder, coming in with a 2-3 record and one GCL South loss already on its record. But a new-look offense helped the Bombers pull off one of the bigger upsets so far this season, knocking off the Panthers 31-29 at The Pit Friday night.

With dual-threat quarterback Aidan Newdigate moving to wide receiver and senior Thomas George taking his spot behind center, the St. Xavier offense scored its most points of the season against an Elder defense that had allowed just 30 points through its first five games.

George went 14-of-22 for 192 yards and three touchdown passes, one each to Christian MacDonald, Logan Von Holle and Ethan Cole. Newdigate added a rushing touchdown, but it still took a last-second 25-yard field goal by kicker Owen Davidson to cap the upset.

Elder quarterback Kaden Estep had another stellar game, going 20-of-26 for 236 yards and three touchdowns while adding 72 rushing yards and another score.

The win also gave St. Xavier coach Steve Specht a milestone, marking his 200th career victory.

No. 4 Moeller 45, No. 12 La Salle 0

What started as a competitive GCL South matchup quickly turned into a rout as Moeller erupted for 31 second-quarter points and overwhelmed La Salle 45-0 Friday night at Lancer Stadium.

Sophomore quarterback Hunter McLaughlin completed 14-of-18 passes for 239 yards and three touchdowns as Moeller (4-2) turned a 7-0 lead after one quarter into a 38-0 halftime advantage. One week after throwing for 321 yards and three touchdowns in his first varsity start at St. Xavier, McLaughlin has now thrown for 560 yards and six scores in two starts.

The Crusaders dominated on both sides of the ball, outgaining La Salle 361-63 and holding a 17-3 advantage in first downs. The Lancers managed just 19 rushing yards.

Juice Glover-Brown and Phil Bailey each scored on the ground, while Moeller also blocked a field goal and successfully executed an onside kick during its second-quarter surge.

The victory gives the Crusaders consecutive GCL South wins and keeps them firmly in the conference race heading into the second half of the regular season.

Moeller is the lone leader in the GCL South.

No. 21 Colerain 47, No. 17 Oak Hills 31

The Colerain Cardinals got back to .500 on the season, the first time they’ve been at that mark this late in the season in quite some time, after knocking off Greater Miami Conference rival Oak Hills 47-31 on Friday night.

It’s also been a while since a Colerain quarterback had the type of night Roman Garr had. Garr went 32-of-41 for 300 yards and five touchdown passes to four different receivers to lead the Cardinals offense. Wide receiver Aaron Jacobs was his favorite target, hauling in nine passes for 114 yards and a score.

Colerain improves to 3-3 on the season and 3-2 in the GMC, while Oak Hills drops to 3-3 overall and 2-3 in conference play.

No. 18 Lebanon 35, No. 19 Kings 24

Lebanon quarterback Mason Reed threw three touchdown passes, while running back Logan Schmenk carried 31 times for 103 yards and a touchdown to lead the #18 Warriors to a 35-24 win over the #19 Kings Knights on Friday night at Kings.

Wyatt Lassen caught three touchdown passes for Lebanon, including a 14-yard score from Reed in the fourth quarter that helped put the game away.

Knights quarterback Jack Sills threw for 347 yards and two touchdowns in the loss.

Lebanon improves to 5-1 on the year and, more importantly, 4-1 in the Eastern Cincinnati Conference, keeping the Warriors just a game behind conference leader #5 Anderson. Kings has now lost two in a row and falls to 3-3 on the season and 2-3 in the ECC.

KENTUCKY

No. 16 Covington Catholic 41, Central 14

The Colonels had an easy evening against Louisville Central, putting 41 points on the scoreboard against the Yellow Jackets to roll to a 41-14 victory.

The win improves CovCath to 4-2 on the season, with a big matchup coming Oct. 2 as the Colonels host #10 Highlands, which beat Harrison County 78-6 Friday night.

INDIANA

Lawrenceburg 35, Batesville 20

Lawrenceburg took a 28-7 lead and had enough answers down the stretch to propel the Tigers to a 35-20 road victory Friday night against Eastern Indiana Athletic Conference foe Batesville.

The Bulldogs pulled within 28-20 in the fourth quarter before Lawrenceburg quarterback Crue Gilmour connected with Mason Manford for a 32-yard touchdown to put the game away.

Lawrenceburg improves to 5-1 on the year with the win, while Batesville falls to 4-2. The Tigers host Rushville next week, while the Bulldogs host Greensburg.

FRIDAY NIGHT STARS

Jordan Hall, Princeton: Rushed 15 times for 140 yards and four touchdowns in the Vikings’ 48-22 win over #7 Lakota East.

Key’Sean Torbert, Princeton: Completed 15-of-24 passes for 227 yards and a touchdown while rushing eight times for 130 yards and another score to help #1 Princeton remain unbeaten.

Thomas George, St. Xavier: Completed 14-of-22 passes for 192 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Bombers to a 31-29 upset of #2 Elder.

Hunter McLaughlin, Moeller: Completed 14-of-18 passes for 239 yards and three touchdowns in #4 Moeller’s 45-0 shutout of #12 La Salle.

Roman Garr, Colerain: Went 32-of-41 for 300 yards and five touchdowns in the #21 Cardinals’ 47-31 victory over GMC rival #17 Oak Hills.

Gavin Nolan, Middletown: Completed 21-of-31 passes for 289 yards and four touchdowns and added a rushing score as #9 Middletown blanked Sycamore 41-0.

Alex Nagel, Mason: Rushed 15 times for 118 yards and two touchdowns and threw for two more scores as #22 Mason rolled past Hamilton 40-3.

Kenyon Norman, Lakota West: Rushed 12 times for 101 yards and two touchdowns and added three receptions for 35 yards as #3 Lakota West bounced back with a 38-7 win over #20 Fairfield.

Miller Reed, Ludlow: Threw two touchdown passes to Jaylen Stone and broke loose for a 73-yard touchdown run as Ludlow defeated rival Bellevue 34-14.

Jaylen Stone, Ludlow: Scored three touchdowns, two receiving and one rushing, in the Panthers’ 34-14 victory over Bellevue.

BLITZ 5 GAME OF THE WEEK

#11 East Central 24, #13 Harrison 21

The #11 East Central Trojans have made it a habit in 2026 of taking the zero out of opposing teams’ loss columns, handing three of their first five opponents their first loss of the year.

They can now add a fourth team to that list after knocking off archrival #13 Harrison in yet another nail-biter, 24-21.

East Central trailed 21-7 at halftime before scoring the game’s final 17 points. The Trojans intercepted Harrison quarterback Brady Lawhon twice late in the fourth quarter, with Colton Bellman’s eight-yard touchdown run giving East Central the lead for good with 3:55 remaining.
