HARRISON, Oh. – For well over half of Friday night’s game at home against the #12 Withrow Tigers, the unbeaten Harrison Wildcats found themselves playing from behind – a spot they had rarely seen so far this season.
Trailing 13-7 with roughly eight minutes left in the fourth quarter, Wildcat senior quarterback Brady Lawhorn connected with senior wide receiver Kyle Davidson on a 32-yard touchdown pass to take a 14-13 lead, one they would not relinquish in a 22-13 victory over the Tigers to go to 4-0 on the season.
Harrison jumped out to an early 7-0 first quarter lead, on a 71-yard touchdown pass by Lawhon to tight end Christian Roether, but Withrow knotted it right back up on a 5-yard touchdown run by junior Dion Clardy. The Tigers would take the lead late in the second quarter, as junior quarterback Sa’Vion Davis hooked up with wideout Tyshawn Johnson on a 13-yard touchdown to make it 13-7 entering the half.
It stayed that way through most of the second half, as it appeared Withrow might snag a huge road win against the Wildcats. But Lawhorn found Davidson on the 32-yard touchdown pass with 8:09 left in the game, and the Harrison defense preserved that lead and added to it. Senior cornerback Jack Denier picked off Withrow’s Davis in the end zone and returned it 102 yards for the pick-six, and with the two-point conversion, Harrison took a 22-13 lead which would be the final.
