2026 Schedule Sneak Peek: Alter

As always, Alter will face a very difficult non-conference portion of its slate this fall but expect the Knights to make their 26th consecutive playoff appearance. The school’s 25 consecutive trips to the postseason is tied with Steubenville for third most in Ohio history (Stuebenville, 2001-2025) trailing only Mogadore with 27 (1999-2025) and record holder Coldwater with 29 (1997-2025). It tells the tale of just how good and stable this program has been under head coach Ed Domsitz.

The teams that Alter will face  were a combined 58-55 (.513 winning %) in 2025. The Knights have fallen to Week 9 foe Badin six straight times (last win 2020) and nine times in their last 10 meetings. Fairmont has also given Alter problems having taken them down in four of the last five season openers. The Knights haven’t started a year 2-0 since 2019 (3-0). Despit the obstacles along the way, Alter always seems to be playing its best football come playoff time.

Here is a look at the 2026 Alter Knights schedule:

FINAL TAKE: This senior class has been through the wars. They have been a part of 28 wins, nine playoff victories, 42 games, a regional runner-up and a state runner-up finish since they walked onto campus. This battle tested group is well-prepared for the challenges that lie ahead. Alter is a legitimate contender to win a Region 12 title no matter what their record might be when the regular season ends.
