FORT MITCHELL, Kentucky – The Beechwood Tigers had Indian Hill rattled from start to finish Friday night, dominating all three phases of the game in a 42-0 victory to open their season.
Special teams started things off with a bang when Nathan Pabst returned the opening kickoff 99 yards for a touchdown, the fourth kickoff return touchdown of his career. Pabst, who also has a punt return touchdown in his career, wasn’t finished. He added two touchdowns on the ground to help set the tone for the Tigers’ offense.
Beechwood’s stars also made their presence felt. Tyler Fryman broke loose for a 47-yard touchdown run on the Tigers’ opening offensive possession, while quarterback Emmett Queen threw two touchdown passes on the night.
On defense, the Tigers stood on business by not allowing the Braves to put a single point on the board. Containing Indian Hill quarterback Devlin Daniel was a priority coming into the night.
“He’s a phenomenal player. I even had the chance to work out with him during the offseason,” Pabst said.
Beechwood took a commanding 35-0 lead into halftime, triggering a running clock, and never allowed Indian Hill to get back into the game. It was an impressive return to the sideline for head coach Noel Rash, who opened his second stint leading the Tigers with a shutout.
Beechwood remains home next week to welcome Dixie Heights, while Indian Hill returns home for a matchup with New Richmond.
