Schedule Sneak Peek: Cooper

They don’t back down from a regular season challenge at Cooper and 2016 will be no different. The Class 6A Jaguars will play the same foes as they did in ‘15 just at opposite venues. It was a schedule that Cooper went 10-3 against with two of those losses to 13-1 Simon Kenton. Opponents Newport Central Catholic (2A) and Lexington Catholic (3A) were state runner-ups while Simon Kenton (6A) and Highlands (5A) were state semifinalist a year ago. The Jaguars shutout out NewCath and LexCath and pummeled Highlands, 37-13. Cooper will look to avenge a 36-0 loss to Bryan Station.

FINAL TAKE: The Cooper program under head coach Randy Borchers welcomes tough regular season challenges and they have fared very well going a combined 40-19 including a 9-5 mark in the playoffs since September, 23rd, 2011. All nine of those postseason wins have come in the last three campaigns.
They have learned how to win and expect to do so under Borchers who has been the Jaguars front man since the inception of football at the school. This will the ninth season of Cooper football.
