Defensively, the Cardinals held Dublin Coffman (7-4) to 148 yards of offense on the night. Shamrocks’ quarterback Gunner Hoak, a Kentucky-commit, ended up the night 5-of-16 and two interceptions for 81 yards. Kyle and Dan Bolden led the defensive effort for Colerain in the first half, combining for five tackles for losses.
The Shamrocks got on the board early in the fourth quarter on an 18-yard run by Stephen Headings.
The Region II top-seeded Cardinals will next face St Xavier in the second round, as the ninth-seeded Bombers knocked off Gahanna Lincoln on the road to advance to next Saturday’s second round matchup.
