Essig takes over at Bethel-Tate

Bethel-Tate will have Jeff Essig running the show next season as former head coach Bill Jenike steps down.

Here is the press release from Bethel-Tate athletic director, Matt Koenig:

“It is my pleasure to announce that Jeff Essig has been Board Approved this evening, (Thursday, December 17th) to be the next Head Football Coach at Bethel-Tate High School.

Four years ago, there were three applications for the Head Football Coaching position at Bethel-Tate, after going 6-4 and making the Playoffs for the first time in school history, the application pool rose to over 30 applications. A lot of credit goes to Bill Jenike who took the program from 0-10, 1-9, 5-5 to the Playoffs. Due to his work situation at Mariemont Schools, which did not allow him to get out of school until 3:30, Bill decided to resign earlier this month.

Jeff Essig is no stranger to Bethel-Tate though. He currently is a Math Teacher at Bethel-Tate Middle School. He coached for the district at both the High School and Middle School level within the Football and Basketball programs from 2003-2010.

Since 2010 he has been coaching at Western Brown where he has held multiple positions including Offensive Coordinator for the past four years. Jeff has a wealth of football knowledge and he is very excited to return to Bethel-Tate to build a program from the youth level all the way up to the High School level!

Jeff will be able to give you more details on his goals moving forward. The Bethel-Tate Local School District is extremely excited to have him at the helm to move our Football program forward.”
