Cincy Defensive POY: Kyle Bolden

Colerain linebacker Kyle Bolden becomes the first junior ever to be named the TriStateFootball.com Cincinnati Defensive Player of the Year earning the honors in 2015 as TSF paid tribute to finest from Northern Kentucky, Dayton, Cincinnati and Southeast Indiana area’s high school gridiron at the Year in Review Show on Wednesday night at the Holy Grail-Banks in downtown Cincinnati. Five of the seven finalists this season were juniors and only two were seniors.

The heart and soul of a Cardinals defense that held 10 opponents to 14 points or fewer in route to a 12-2 mark and regional runner-up finish. Bolden registered 93 total tackles with 3.5 sacks on his way to being named Division I First Team All-Ohio. He becomes just the second Colerain and GMC player to win the TSF Cincinnati Defensive Player of the Year award and first since 2007.

Other finalists included Bolden’s classmate Amir Riep (Colerain), seniors Prince Sammons (CHCA/Auburn), Hayden Specht (St. Xavier/Albany) along juniors Jarell White (La Salle), Lang Evans (Turpin) and Jerron Cage (Winton Woods).
