Dayton Offensive POY: Elijah Cunningham

A model of stability and consistency Springboro quarterback Elijah Cunningham was named the 2015 TriStateFootball.com Dayton Offensive Player of the Year as TSF paid tribute to finest from Northern Kentucky, Dayton, Cincinnati and Southeast Indiana area’s high school gridiron at the Year in Review Show on Wednesday night at the Holy Grail-Banks in downtown Cincinnati.
Inserted as the Springboro starting quarterback in Week 7 of his sophomore year, Elijah Cunningham took the role in grand fashion. The Panthers compiled a 22-6 record and made the playoff in all three of his seasons under center including the program’s first ever playoff win this past fall.
Cunningham threw for 2,990 yards, ran for 435 more yards and accounted for 41 touchdowns (33 passing, eight rushing) in his senior campaign as the Panthers went 9-3 making it to week 12 for the first time in school history. His efforts earned him Division I Special Mention All-Ohio, First Team All-Southwest District and GWOC South Offensive Player of the Year honors as well.
Other finalists included seniors Jayden Davis (Kenton Ridge), Messiah DeWeaver (Wayne), Jacob Harrison (Centerville), Daryl McCleskey (Wayne), junior Danny Davis (Springfield) and sophomore Raveion Hargrove (Trotwood-Madison).
