Anderson throws down McNicholas
- Updated: September 2, 2016
Quarterbacks combined for nearly 700 yards passing as Anderson pounded McNicholas, 61-21 on Friday.
The winning QB – Jay Volpenhein – was 27-for-41 for 314 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions. He also ran for 128 yards and four scores as he factored into seven of the Redskins’ nine TDs.
Cameron Haynes finished 27 of 47 for 364 yards and one TD to pace the Rockets.
Anderson’s Kyle Blaha opened the scoring with a one-yard run, but McNicholas’ Jake Campbell returned the ensuing kickoff 86 yards to tie it.
Blaha found the end zone again four minutes later, and Volpenhein followed with a 7-yard TD run late in the first quarter, and the Redskins would never relinquish the lead.
The Redskins piled up 611 yards while the Rockets tallied 442 – a total of 1,053 yards for both teams.
Winless McNicholas will travel to Wyoming next week while Anderson, which has scored 103 points in its two wins, will host Harrison.
