Fairfield rallies, defeats Sycamore

After trailing 20-7 at halftime, the Fairfield Indians defeated the Sycamore Aviators 35-27.
The Indians (5-1) came out and scored the first points of the second half off a 15-yard touchdown pass from Aaron Carmeck to James Mitchell, cutting their deficit to 20-14.
They allowed Sycamore (2-4) to score right after, however, on a 40-yard field goal from Jacob Hasselback as the Aviators reclaimed a two-possession lead.
Carmack connected with Mitchell again on a five-yard touchdown strike before the close of the third quarter, trimming the score to 23-21.
Fairfield claimed their first lead of the game with 8:15 left on another touchdown pass from Carmack and the Indians led 28-23.
Hasselback connected on a 32-yard field goal almost three minutes after to bring the Aviators within two points, but a 40-yard touchdown run from Chico Robinson sealed the game for Fairfield with 2:36 remaining.
Carmack ultimately finished 22 of 31 with four touchdowns and 356 passing yards.
Three of his touchdowns went to Mitchell, who had 151 receiving yards on 11 receptions.
Sycamore’s Jake Borman also had a big night, throwing for 307 yards and two touchdowns on 13 of 23 passing.
Myron Williams caught four passes from Borman for 137 yards and one touchdown.
Fairfield travels to Mason for their next game to take on the Comets at 7 p.m. Oct. 7. Sycamore plays Lakota East at home on the same date and time.
