La Salle blanks East Central
- Updated: September 2, 2016
It took awhile for La Salle’s offense to get going, but the Lancers broke out in the second half and played solid defense throughout in a 31-0 win over East Central on Friday.
La Salle was held scoreless in the first quarter and led 7-0 at halftime on a 5-yard TD run by Jarell White early in the second stanza.
But early in the third quarter, Griffin Meredith hooked up with Christian Turner for a 40-yard score to extend the lead to 14.
White would find the end zone two more times, sandwiching a 28-yard field goal by Paul Young.
The Lancers outgained the Trojans, 297-126, holding East Central to three passing yards.
White finished with 74 ground yards and three scores on 16 carries. Alex Maxwell paced East Central with 21 carries for 74 yards.
East Central hosts Franklin County in its conference opener next week while La Salle travels to Colerain.
