Milford stings Walnut Hills

After dropping their first two games in Eastern Cincinnati Conference play, the Milford Eagles were able to regroup on Friday night, knocking off the Walnut Hills Eagles on Homecoming night at Milford High School.

Walnut got the scoring started in the first quarter on a Robvae McDonald two-yard rush to put Walnut on top 6-0. A successful two-point conversion rush by Jonathan Hollis extended the Walnut lead to 8-0 in the first quarter.

Milford started a run in the second quarter when Chase Witte found the end zone for a score, and with a Tyler Smith two-point conversion rush, the Eagles from Milford found themselves tied 8-8 at the half.

Walnut wasn’t backing down though as Robvae McDonald went 82 yards on a run into the end zone, allowing the Walnut Hills Eagles to tie the game at 15, right before the end of the third quarter.

The fourth quarter was all Milford as Smith found the end zone for his second score of the game. Milford took its second lead of the game on the rush and would not lose the lead the rest of the game.

To cap it all off, Milford’s Dawson Slone took the ball in from 12 yards out, sealing the 29-15 victory for Milford.

Milford (2-4, 1-2 ECC) will face its toughest test of the season next week when the Eagles take on the Knights from Kings. Kings, an early favorite to win the ECC, was knocked off by Turpin 27-7 on Friday night.

Walnut Hills (4-2, 1-2 ECC) hosts Loveland next Friday in another highly-critical ECC matchup. The Tigers lost to Anderson 42-21 on Friday night.
