- Updated: October 21, 2016
The Harrison Wildcats upset the Mount Healthy Fighting Owls in a high scoring and close 49-48 affair ― handing Mount Healthy their first loss of the season.
Going into the fourth quarter, the Wildcats (6-3) trailed by 14 points, but ultimately tied the game at 42 a piece with 6:10 remaining in the game. Harrison pulled even on a 10-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Frankie Young to wide receiver Bailey Smith.
Mount Healthy (8-1) did not allow the game to be tied for long as Justice Walker returned the ensuing kickoff 84 yards for a touchdown. Their kicker Jackson Baumer missed the extra point, however, and the Fighting Owls only led by six points.
Harrison then found the end zone for the winning touchdown with 1:03 remaining. Young found wide receiver Mitchell Crawford from 13 yards out and the Wildcat extra point won the game.
Crawford had a big night against the Mount Healthy defense, catching 10 passes for 162 yards and two touchdowns.
Mount Healthy now falls to second place in the Southwest Ohio Conference behind Edgewood. Harrison is now in third place in the standings.
Mount Healthy travels to Edgewood for their next matchup at 7 p.m. Oct 28. Harrison goes to Northwest for their next game at the same date and time.
