Coldwater trumps CHCA again
- Updated: November 20, 2016
CLAYTON, ohio – As good as CHCA has been they still haven’t figured out a way to solve the mystery of Coldwater in the playoffs. The Cavaliers knocked the Eagles out of the postseason and ended their season for a third straight season. Three of CHCA’s four losses in that span have been to the Cavs.
Coldwater built a 28-7 halftime lead and never looked back. The Eagles played catch up all night but just couldn’t get over the hump. CHCA outgained Coldwater by 110 yards on the night but three turnovers did them in.
CHCA running back Kesean Gamble led the Eagles with 182 yards and a pair of touchdowns rushing on 26 carries. Quarterback Danny Vanatsky also found the end zone on a run and finished the night with 186 yards through the air in defeat.
Coldwater advances on to the state semi-final in pursuit of its fifth consecutive state title. The win for the Cavaliers over the Eagles gave the school its eighth straight regional crown.
