Northmont D Trounces Springboro
- Updated: October 21, 2017
Northmont made sure not to have a setback against Springboro after last week’s win against undefeated Centerville. The Thunderbolts jumped out to a 35-0 lead in the first half and cruised to a 35-10 win Friday night at Springboro.
Northmont senior Devin Kenerly rushed for 107 yards and a touchdown. This is the sixth straight game with at least 100 yards, and fourth straight game with a touchdown. Senior Jabari Jenkins led the team with 138 yards and three touchdowns, one on coming on the ground. Both touchdown receptions were for over 40 yards.
The Thunderbolts defense suffocated the Springboro offense as they only allowed 314 yards and forced five turnovers. Senior Cameron Rucker and junior Danny Lewis each had two interceptions. Lewis took one of those interceptions 85 yards for a touchdown in the second quarter to extend the lead to 28-0.
During the Northmont four-game win streak the defense has allowed 14 points or less in each of those games.
Northmont will finish the regular season next week at home against Miamisburg. The Vikings have lost five of its last six games. The Thunderbolts have secured a playoff spot, but looking to improve on the seeding with a win next week.
