- Updated: October 20, 2017
Brian Doneghy scored the first three touchdowns as Sycamore ran away with a 40-13 win over Lakota East on Friday.
Doneghy punched in rushing TDs from 16 and six yards out, less than three minutes apart in the first quarter, and he made it 20-0 on a three-yard score with 1:10 remaining in the opening half.
The Aviators added three more touchdowns in the third quarter to extend their lead to 40. Myron Williams caught a 39-yard TD from Drew Altemuehle, Jordan McConnell took a 31-yard run in and Johnny Bothen recovered a fumble and sprinted 94 yards for Sycamore’s final score.
The Thunderhawks posted a pair of TDs in the final stanza.
Altemuehle finished 8-for-10 for 211 yards and one touchdown, and Williams caught four of those passes for 116 yards, including the TD.
It was the third straight win for Sycamore over Lakota East.
Mark Krajewski paced Lakota East with 78 ground yards. Chris Whitehead scored a rushing touchdown, and Sean Church returned a punt 55 yards for the Thunderhawks’ other score.
The Aviators are now in a three-way tie with Fairfield and Mason for second in the GMC. Sycamore will wrap up its regular season at Princeton next week.
Lakota East – at 4-3 in the conference – finishes by hosting Mason.
In the Harbin ratings, the Aviators are now in fifth place in Region 4, and the Thunderhawks are outside the bubble at No. 10 in Division I.
