Wolf, Vann add SW District POY to their honors

No one was more clutch agianst or better at sticking daggers in their foes than St. Xavier quarterback Chase Wolf was this season. Those were large reasons why the senior was named the 2017 Division I Southwest District offensive player of the year. Two weeks earlier the GCL South named him their athlete of the year.

On the other side of the ball, Fairfield lineman Malik Vann earned the accolades as the 2017 Division I Southwest District defensive player of the year. “In my 24 years as head coach he is the most disruptive lineman I have seen,” Indians head coach Jason Krause says of  his star. The senior was also named GMC defensive player of the year.

Wolf, a Wisconsin Commit has thrown for 2,364 yards, completed 63.9% of his passes with 25 touchdowns tosses and just three interceptions for the 11-1 Bombers. Five times in his career he has thrown for four touchdowns in a game including three times in his last nine contests this fall. St. Xavier is still in the playoffs and looking to defend their state title.

Vann, who is currently committed to Cincinnati but has seen Ohio State open their recruiting of him back up had 47 tackles, 12.5 tackles for losses, seven-and-a-half sacks, forced five fumbles and recovered three fumbles. He helped the Indians to three three straight playoff appearances for the first time in school history.
