2018 Snapshot: Walnut Hills

There is sigh of relief at Walnut Hills. The program has been searching for stability the last three years and it now appears to have some firm footing under it.
For the first time in their careers the seniors will not being playing for a new head coach. Gerry Beauchamp is back after being hired late, prior to the 2017 season. He has still has been at the helm less than a year but sees progress being made.
Walnut Hills returns 17 starters but they are going to have to figure out how to win. The Eagles have not had a winning season since joining the Eastern Cincinnati Conference six years ago. Solving that mystery will open up the flood gates to a very successful campaign.

HONOR ROLL
Jowon Briggs, Sr, DL- A Second Team All-Southwest District selection in ’17. Finished the year with 45 total tackles, 6.0 sacks, forced two fumbles and had 13 tackles for losses. The 6-foot-3, 285 pound Briggs is an extremely strong interior defensive lineman who makes it very hard for offenses to block. Teams need to plan for him or run away from him. Offers from Ohio State, Penn State, Michigan State, Michigan, UC, Iowa, Alabama, Tennessee, Notre Dame and others.
Caleb Diersing, Sr, TE/DE – A strong, experienced, athlete with great size on the edge of the defensive front. Diersing was named Special Mention All-ECC as a junior.
OTHER RETURNEES
Caleb Streat, Sr, DB – A very athletic and rangy player in the secondary who is great in coverage. Streat will also come down hill and make running outside difficult.
Nathan Rudnick, Jr, SS – A confident player returning in the secondary. Rudnick gained valuable experience starting as a sophomore, ,
Andre Allen, Sr, ATH – Played RB, CB, and WR last season. A great athlete Allen will find his place at one of the skill positions.
De’Ariss Hope, Sr, OL – The Eagles top returning offensive lineman. His junior season was cut short due to injury. Hope has had a great off-season developing strength and leadership.
Tyrese Dorn, Jr, RB – A starter as a sophomore, Dorn will be an impact player from the backfield as a runner, blocker, and receiver.
Lundyn Lane, Jr, LB – One of the best tacklers on the team, Lane is back for his second year as a starter.
NEWCOMERS
A quartet of sophomores in LB Gaillin Mitchell, OL/DL Mao Glynn, DL Mikhale Stewart and OL Eric Meeks will get the opportunity to make their mark at the varsity level. They provide coach Beauchamp so big bodies up front. The defense will also get a boost from junior S Garry Williams and senior LB Ryan Inskeep.
