Batesville Clinches EIAC 3A Title on Record-setting Night

BATESVILLE, indiana – It was all business for Batesville in the second half on Friday night. The Bulldogs broke a 21-21 tie, scoring 21 unanswered points after intermission to knock off Greensburg for the EIAC 3A title.

Batesville quarterback Trey Heidlage amassed 454 yards of total offense (347 pass, 107 rush) and accounted for six touchdowns (four pass, two rush). The senior surpassed school mark of 33 touchdown passes set by Brady Cavinee in 2010-’11. Heidlage now has 36 touchdown tosses and climbing. He became the Bulldogs all-time leader in passing yards back in Week 1, topping Connor Kelly’s (2007-’09) total of 2,565 yards. Heidlage is now closing in on 4,000 career yards passing.

Classmate Austin Siefert had 12 receptions for 223 yards and four touchdown catches of 63, 47, 26 and 23 yards. The effort saw Siefert set new Batesville records for receptions in a season (now at 49), receptions in a career (now at 80). Siefert also broke his own school records (set last year versus Rushville) with his four touchdowns and 223 receiving yards in a single game. He also snared and interception in this affair.

Devon Meeks led the Bulldogs with two solo tackles, 14 assists, two tackles for losses and half-a-sack. Adam Bedel had 3 solo tackles and a sack for the victors.
