Moeller Edges La Salle in OT

Moeller defeats La Salle, 21-14 in overtime, Friday night at La Salle.
On the first possession in overtime, Moeller’s Chryst Watkins scored on a fourth and goal from the one-yard line to take the lead.
La Salle received the next possession, but La Salle’s M.J. Horton was intercepted by B.J. Hendrix to give the Crusaders the win. This was Moeller’s third straight win.
La Salle opened the scoring when Horton found Tay Smith on a three-yard pass to tale an early 7-0 lead after the PAT.
T.J. Rotello answered for Moeller with a 19-yard touchdown run to the tie the game in the first quarter.
In the second quarter, the Crusaders took the lead when Mitch McKenzie rushed for a one-yard run.
After a scoreless third quarter, La Salle tied the game with just under seven minutes to go when Horton found the endzone on a five-yard rush. Horton gained 118 yards.
Watkins led the Crusaders with 101 yards on 24 carries. Rotello was second on the team with 73 yards.
This is Moeller’s first win against La Salle since 2013.
