Same McClain, different Pace named best in DI SW District

For second straight season Fairfield running back JuTahn McClain was honored as the Division I Southwest District Offensive Player of the Year. McClain ran for 1,927 yards with 21 rushing touchdowns and 2,093 all-purpose yards as the Indians went 10-2 and made their fifth consecutive playoff appearance. The Kentucky commit finishes his career with 4,519 yards rushing, 54 rushing touchdowns, 49 receptions, 686 receiving, six receiving touchdowns, 61 total touchdowns and 5,520 all-purpose yards.

Colerain defensive back Deshawn Pace was named the District Defensive Player of the Year. These accolades come a year after his brother, Ivan Pace Jr. earned this same honor. Pace currently has 49 tackles and five interceptions (11 career) for the 11-1 Cardinals. The University of Cincinnati commit will be playing for his third straight regional title on Friday night against Elder.

Springfield head coach Moe Douglass is the Coach of the Year. Douglass has his 11-1 Wildcats playing in their first ever regional finals. Springfield only loss came in Week 2 to Fairfield, 16-12. Douglass has a 38-27 record in his sixth season with the Wildcats. He is 139-81 in his 19th season overall.
