Williams, Warner are District’s best in Division II

Winton Woods running back Miyan Williams, the reigning OPSWA Ohio Division II Offensive Player of the Year was named the Southwest District OPOY for a second straight season. Fairborn junior linebacker was also recognized as the District’s top defensive player. New life was breathed into Talawanda as Larry Cox made a big comeback on his way to being named the Coach of the Year in the District.
Williams ran for 996 yards and 10 touchdowns for the 6-3 Warriors. The Iowa State commit ends his decorated career with 5,823 yards rushing and 68 touchdowns. Warner tallied 131 total tackles, had two sacks, forced two fumbles and recovered three fumbles for the Skyhawks. He also ran for 1,044 yards and 11 scores.
After a year hiatus as a head coach, Larry Cox resurfaced at Talawanda and led them to a 7-3 campaign. The Brave were a combined 5-35 in the four years prior to Cox’s arrival.
