East Central (11-1) was a defensive juggernaut last fall. The Trojans allowed just 9.3 points per game, held 11 of their 12 foes to 17 points or less and recorded four shutouts. A large reason for that success was the play of lineman, Kyle Krummen who was named the 2019 TriState Football Indiana Defensive Player of the Year as TSF paid tribute to finest from Cincinnati, Northern Kentucky, Dayton and Southeast Indiana area’s high school gridiron at the Year in Review Show on Monday night, in front of a packed house at the Holy Grail, downtown Cincinnati.

Krummen recorded 72 total tackles, had 14 tackles for losses, four-and-a-half sacks, three forced fumbles and one fumble recovery for East Central. That effort also garnered Krummen EIAC 4A DPOY accolades. He finishes his career with 155 total tackles, 36.5 tackles for losses, 15.5 sacks, six forced fumbles and one fumble recovery.

TriStateFootball.com was founded in 2005 and started its postseason awards for Indiana Defensive Player of the Year in 2011. Krummen is the third player from East Central to earn the honor.
