Northmont Dumps Dunbar

CLAYTON, ohio – Big plays led the way as Northmont escaped an early scare from Dunbar. The Wolverines took a 19-14 advantage just seconds before halftime but Thunderbolts receiver junior Javien Brownlee ended the second quarter with an 86-yard kickoff return for a touchdown. Northmont would score the last 28 points of the contest.

Brownlee finished the game with Amassed 191 all-purpose yards on seven touches had four receptions and an interception for the victors. The Thunderbolts running game set the tone with 332 yards including 171 yards and three touchdowns from senior Malachi Staffney. It was the first 100-yard rushing game in Staffney’s career. Classmate and transfer from Centerville, Bryant Callahan pitched in with 118 more yards and two scores on the ground.

Dunbar was led by senior quarterback Nate Roberts who went 20-28 for 203 yards and two touchdowns. Darian Leslie was on the receiving end of eight of those passes gaining 78 yards for the Wolverines.
