McNick runs over CHCA
- Updated: September 3, 2021
CINCINNATI, Ohio – The McNicholas Rockets offense started strong and kept rolling all game long en route to blowing out the CHCA Eagles 41-0 Friday night at Penn Station Stadium.
The Rockets got the scoring started when Wyatt Gear found the end zone on a rushing score, which was quickly followed up with a Pierce Taylor touchdown pass to Jay Dietz.
Taylor nearly found the end zone on a 33-yard rush before being taken down at the one-yard line. Ty Snyder finished it off with the short score to give the Rockets a 21-0 lead at the end of the first quarter.
The second quarter was dominated again by the Rockets with a pair of touchdowns. Pierce Taylor scored on a two-yard run and Tyler Haynes had an eight-yard touchdown reception. With a missed extra point, McNick held onto a 34-0 lead going into the half.
The defense came up big out of the half with an interception by Joey Baca, which he took back to the house for six points.
CHCA’s offense found itself on the McNick nine-yard line in the third quarter, but a failed fourth down conversion stalled the drive and gave the ball back to the Rockets.
The Rockets ran out the clock in the final quarter and solidified the victory, advancing to 3-0 for the second consecutive season.
For the third straight game, CHCA was shut out on offense. The Eagles have been outscored 91-0 in 2021, coming off a 2020 season when they only gave up 147 points and scored 250 points.
The schedule doesn’t get any easier for McNicholas as the Rockets host Highlands next week, while CHCA goes back home to face Wilmington.
