In the last week of regular season play in Ohio, conference titles and playoff seeds were on the line throughout the area, including titles in the Greater Miami Conference and GCL Co-Ed.

NO. 2 LAKOTA WEST 34, NO. 6 LAKOTA EAST 7

The Lakota interdistrict rivalry descended upon Lakota West Stadium Friday night, culminating in the Lakota West Firebirds victory over the Lakota East Thunderhawks 34-7.

With the win, the Firebirds won their second consecutive Greater Miami Conference championship, finishing a perfect 7-0 in conference play. Lakota East finished in third place in the GMC, behind the Firebirds and Princeton.

Lakota West came out on fire on a rainy Friday night, getting out to a 24-0 lead through the third quarter. Two of the scores came via the Mitch Bolden to Trent Lloyd connection, scoring from 12 yards out and 45 yards out. Cameron Goode also added a 67-yard touchdown scamper to aid in the Firebirds scoring firepower.

Lakota East quarterback TJ Kathman came back after being ruled out last week due to injury. Kathman accounted for the only Thunderhawk score, a six-run scoring rush.

Next up for both teams is the OHSAA playoffs. Matchups will be announced on Sunday.

NO. 7 ELDER 28, NO. 5 LA SALLE 21

After stumbling out of the gate to start the season with a 2-4 record, the Elder Panthers responded by finishing the season at .500, capping it off with a 28-21 win over GCL South rival La Salle Lancers. The Panthers finished 2-1 in GCL South play while La Salle ended up at 0-3 in GCL South play.

The Panthers and Lancers finished Friday night’s matchup with very similar offensive stats. Elder had 283 yards of total offense while La Salle had 275 yards. The difference in the game were the defenses, with the Elder defense forcing two turnovers in the game.

Drew Ramsey led the Panthers by finding the end zone of two scoring runs, while also tallying 90 yards on 22 carries. Ben Hambleton led the passing attack, throwing for 167 yards on 21 completions. He also had a touchdown pass to Zane Klusman.

Next up for both teams are the playoffs. Elder finds itself in a good position to end up with a Top 8 seed, meaning the Panthers could host a playoff game at The Pit. La Salle could still host a game at Lancer Stadium in the Division II playoffs.

NO. 18 BADIN 48, NO. 24 MCNICHOLAS 21

The GCL Co-Ed championship came down to Week 10 when the Badin Rams faced McNicholas, knocking the Rockets  off 48-21 to claim the title.

The star of the game was Badin’s Jack Walsh, who scored five of the first six touchdowns for the Rams. The Rams also got help on defense with a pick-six from Braedyn Moore.

In addition to the league title, Badin also clinched its second consecutive undefeated regular season. The Rams finished undefeated in the shortened regular season in 2020.

McNicholas ended its magical season with a 8-1 record, well positioned for a Top 4 seed in the Division IV playoffs. That would give the Rockets a home playoff game.

With the win, Badin will likely be the top seed in Division III.
