Brown, Smoot, Parker Honored in Division I
- Updated: November 17, 2021
The Lakota West (11-1) defense has been tenacious all season and helping to lead the way was defensive back Jyaire Brown who was named the 2021 OPSWA Division I Southwest District Defensive Player of the Year. Despite teams trying to throw away from him Brown has still managed to come up with five interceptions and two fumble recoveries. He also has four receiving and two punt return touchdowns. Brown is committed to Ohio State.
Te’Sean Smoot has been the catalyst for Springfield (11-1) for a Springfield team that is playing for a third straight regional championship. Smoot has thrown 2,009 yards, ran for 802 yards and accounted 36 touchdowns (17 pass, 19 rush). Those numbers propelled him to the OPSWA Division I Southwest District Offensive Player of the Year honors.
In his first year at Princeton Andre Parker led the Vikings to an 11-2 record. He was named the District’s Coach of the Year.
