Ohio Round-Up: Playoff push continues

The field continued narrow in playoff action around Southwest Ohio on Friday in the second week of postseason play. This week was highlighted by several rematch games between conference foes.

DIVISION I

Region 4

NO. 2 ST. XAVIER 42, NO. 7 ELDER 7
Charles Kellom rushed for 217 yards and two touchdowns and Brogan McCaughey threw for 249 yards and three scores as St. Xavier rolled by Elder to move on in the OHSAA Playoffs.

The Bombers ran for 304 yards total in the game and held the Panthers to just 31 yards on the ground. It was a hard-hitting affair on both sides of the ball.

Things were tied up 7-7 at the end of the first quarter of play, but St. Xavier opened things up with a 21-0 edge in the second quarter and would wind up helding Elder without a point in the final three frames.

NO. 4 PRINCETON 37, NO. 12 SYCAMORE 35
The Vikings appeared to have this game in the bag when they took a 16-point lead with just over five minutes to play, but the scrappy Aviators would not go away.

William Ingle threw two touchdowns in the waning moments and completed one two-point conversion, but his second attempt at a two-point conversion came up short and Princeton held on for a two-point win. Ingle didn’t disappoint in what would prove to be his final high school game, rushing for 219 yards and three TD’s and passing for 135 yards and the two scores.

It wouldn’t be enough as Princeton tallied 372 yards of offense of their own, including a mammoth effort for Mekhi Lynn, who passed for 208 yards and a score and added 107 yards and three touchdowns on 19 carries.
