TSF 2021 Cincinnati OPOY Finalists

There are nine finalists for the 2021 TriState Football Cincinnati Offensive Player of the Year. Five nominees are seniors and the other four are underclassmen including sophomore Jordan Marshall. This is the second nomination for CJ Hester, Brogan McCaughey and Drew Ramsey.

The members of the All-TSF Teams, the TSF Teams of the Year, Players of the Year and finalists from Indiana, Dayton, Northern Kentucky and Cincinnati as well as the Mella Windows Players of the Week will be recognized at the TriState Football Year In Review Awards Show on Monday, February 21st, 2022 at the Holy Grail-Banks – RSVP 2021 TSF Year In Review Show

Here is a look at our finalists:
Joey Faulkner (Anderson) – OPSWA Division II First Team All-Ohio. The senior hauled in 121 receptions for 1,744 yards (145.3 YPG/rec) and 16 touchdowns. Faulkner’s 121 catches were tied for the seventh most in a season, in Ohio history. The 1,744 receiving yards are the 14th most in a season, in Ohio history. He has offers from Wooster and John Carroll.

CJ Hester (Wyoming) – OPSWA Ohio Division IV OPOY, First Team All-Ohio and District OPOY for a second straight year. Hester was also the CHL OPOY. He helped the Cowboys to a 12-1 record and fifth straight reginal finals appearance where they fell to eventual state champion, Clinton-Massie. He had an amazing season, running for 2,484 yards, amassing 2,773 all-purpose yards with 40 touchdowns (35 rush, four rec, one FR). On defense, he was in on 32 total tackles with four takeaways (three FRs, one INT). The junior has offers from Akron, Ball State, BGSU, Buffalo, and Toledo.

William Ingle (Sycamore) – OPSWA Division I Second Team All-Ohio and GMC POY. After three seasons at running back, Ingle took the quarterback position like a fish to water. He was clearly the best player in the GMC in 2021. He ran for 1,916 yards, threw for 970 yards, and accounted for 41 touchdowns (30 pass, 11 rush). Six times in his last seven games (all versus GMC foes), Ingle ran for 155 yards or more including three tilts of 200-plus with a career best 348 yards against Mason. He has signed with Navy.

Will Kocher (Kings) – OPSWA Division II Second Team All-Ohio and ECC POY. The pilot that navigated the Knights to its first undefeated regular season since 2014. Kocher threw for 2,539 yards, ran for 638 yards, and accounted for 36 touchdowns (24 pass, 12 rush). He heads into his senior year with 3,418 yards passing, 1,009 yards rushing, 31 touchdowns tosses and 20 scores on the ground.

Jordan Marshall (Moeller) – OPSWA Division I Honorable Mention All-Southwest District. A dual threat out of the backfield who made his presence known and felt throughout the Crusaders run to the regional title. The sophomore finished the year with 1,155 yards rushing, 23 receptions or 427 yards and 22 touchdowns (15 rush, seven rec). Marshall has been a hot commodity since the season ended racking up offers from Akron, Boston College, Cincinnati, Kentucky, Louisville, Miami (OH), Pitt, Toledo and Vanderbilt.

Brogan McCaughey (St. Xavier) – OPSWA Division I First Team All-Ohio (for a second straight season). A model of efficiency and flat-out winner in his two years as the Bombers starting quarterback. McCaughey threw for 2,666 yards and 31 touchdowns. He added three more scores and 120 yards rushing. The senior did all this damage despite not playing in the second half of seven games due to the running clock and the mercy rule. Adding an exclamation mark to his first half dominance! In 23 career starts McCaughey threw for 5,374 and 59 touchdowns. McCaughey who helped St. Xavier to the state title as a junior has offers that include Akron, Bowling Green, Buffalo, Eastern Kentucky, Eastern Michigan, Kent State, Miami (OH), Ohio, Penn, Toledo, Tulane, Western Michigan, Yale and Youngstown State.

Drew Novak (Western Brown) – Ohio Mr. Football Finalist, OPSWA Division III OPOY, OPSWA Division III First Team All-Ohio, OPSWA Division III Southwest District OPOY and SBAAC American OPOY. It was a historical year for Novak who helped Western Brown (11-2) to its first ever appearance in the regional finals. The junior threw for 5,269 yards, ran for 1,202 yards with 56 passing touchdowns and 21 scores on the ground. Those 5,269 passing yards are the sixth highest season total in Ohio history. Novak also became just the sixth player in Ohio history to throw for more than 5,000 yards and 50 touchdowns in a season. He is the 15th player in Ohio history to throw at least 56 touchdowns. Novak heads into his senior year with 9,924 yards passing, 13th most in Ohio history. He is projected to finish with the third most yards behind Maty Mauk (18,932) and Ben (17,364) Mauk of Kenton.

Drew Ramsey (Elder) – OPSWA Division I First Team All-Ohio and GCL South POY. The senior had 108 receptions for 1,061 yards, two receiving touchdowns, 16 rushing scores and 1,527 all-purpose yards for the Panthers. Ramsey’s 108 catches are tied for 12th most in a season in Ohio history. His 224 career receptions are 14th most in state history. Ramsey holds offers from Miami (OH) and Toledo.

TyRek Spikes (Winton Woods) – OPSWA Division II Honorable Mention All-Ohio. Spikes shined when the lights were the brightest, running for 1,175 of his 1,858 yards and eight of his 19 touchdowns in six playoff games for the state champion Warriors. The senior finished with 2,318 all-purpose yards and a pair of kickoff returns for touchdowns to go along with his 19 scores on the ground. Spikes amassed 3,783 all-purpose yards, 2,841 rushing yards with 32 rushing touchdowns and four kickoff returns for scores in Warriors uniform. His offers include Tiffin, Baldwin-Wallace, Manchester, Hanover, Iowa Wesleyan, Olivet and John Carroll.
