2022 Snapshot: Dayton Christian

They are on their own little island in the CMAC Blue. Dayton Christian will be taking some long bus rides for away games – two to Cincinnati, one to Columbus, one to Clinton County and another to Hamilton. This will test the Warriors mental toughness.

Head coach Adrian Sellers worries about his team’s physicality. Dayton Christian got pushed around in the trenches last season. They gave up 37.0 points per game and 46 points or more on six occasions. The offense scored 13 points or less six times.

With a schedule that includes five teams that finished under .500 and another school that didn’t play a game in 2021, Dayton Christian is presented with an opportunity to do something special. If the Warriors can throw a punch and absorb a blow they may just make the playoffs for the fourth time in program history.

Division VI, Region 24
2021 RECORD: 2-8, 1-3 SBAAC National
COACH: Adrian Sellers (2-8 at Dayton Christian, one year; 2-8 overall)

TOP RETURNEES
Preston Sellers, Sr, QB/LB – The centerpiece of the Warriors offense. Sellers threw for 1,966 yards, had 17 touchdown passes and ran for four more scores on his way to OPSWA Division VI Third Team All-Ohio honors in 2021. He has an offer from Baldwin Wallace.

Austin Sellers, Jr, DL – One of the top defensive linemen in the CMAC Blue division. Sellers tallied 51 total tackles and a sack as a sophomore. He was named OPSWA Division VI Second Team All-Southwest District for his efforts.

Merrick May, Sr, OL/DL – The senior leader of the defense. May recorded 49 total tackles, three-and-a-half sacks, with a forced fumble and a fumble recovery last fall. He was named Second Team All-CMAC Blue for the work.

Jason Oliver, Sr, RB – Will move to running back for his final season. Oliver had 11 receptions for 147 yards, one touchdown catch and 24 total tackles on his way to Honorable Mention All-CMAC Blue accolades as a junior.

Caleb Coolman, Sr, OL/DL – Injuries limited Coolman to just four games as a junior. The 6-foot-4, 300-pound lineman has all-state potential. He should play at the next level.
