Cincinnati Round-Up: Marshall powers Moeller to victory

Several top teams are officially on a collision course as the favorites won big in the second round of the playoffs.

DIVISION I, REGION 4
#1 MOELLER 28, #9 ST. XAVIER  7
Jordan Marshall rushed for 263 yards and four touchdowns to help Moeller power past rival St. Xavier in front of a sellout crowd in Norwood. Marshall proved to be tough to contain all night for the Bombers matching his highest number of carries and churning out a season-high in yards. Luke Dunn continued his steady play going 10-18 for 90 yards.

Chase Herbstreit had another strong performance in a losing effort. The sophomore was 13-22 for 122 yards and a touchdown. Gage Patrick led the rushing attack with 133 yards on the ground for the Bombers. Jamaal Sharp caught six passes for 66 yards.

#2 ELDER 31, #7 MILFORD 6
Jack Reuter rushed for 117 yards and two touchdowns as Elder got a balanced effort to push past Milford at The Pit on Friday night. The Panthers also got a touchdown run from tailback Luke Flowers and quarterback Ben Schoster connected with Luke Autenreib for a touchdown reception. Schoster was 12-15 for 128 yards on the night.

The Elder defense nearly pitched a shutout as they did not allow a score until 1:35 to go in the ball game. This was an impressive feat as Milford is known for a high scoring offense of their own. Elder advances to face number 3 seed Lakota West next week.

DIVISION II, REGION 8
#1 WINTON WOODS 34, #9 ROSS 21
Winton Woods survived a scare from Ross on Friday night but were able to pull away in the second half. Vance George passed for 271 yards and two touchdowns as the Warriors showed a big passing game for the first time this season. 

Tra’mar Harris caught eight passes for 133 yards and a touchdown as the top threat on the outside. Trey Cornist once again paced the Warriors on the ground with 93 yards and three touchdowns.

Ross was led by a balanced rushing attack that kept them in the game. Emory Severance (82 yds), Riley Caldwell (38 yds), and Jaye Warren (32 yds) all ran the ball well in the loss.

#10 ANDERSON 34, #15 LITTLE MIAMI 20
Griffin Scalf was 18-35 for 247 yards and two touchdowns through the air to lead Anderson to a second victory over Little Miami this season. Scalf also carried the ball 11 times for 92 yards and another score to power the Raptors. Mike Smith caught the ball nine times for 114 yards as the team’s leading receiver.

Grant Maupin led Little Miami in going 19-32 for 204 yards passing. Maupin also added a rushing TD and Will Rom also scored a rushing touchdown in the loss.

DIVISION III, REGION 12
#1 BADIN 41, #9 NEW RICHMOND 14
Badin jumped out to a 41-0 lead and never looked back in a dominating victory on Friday night.  University of Cincinnati commit Braedyn Moore caught 5 passes for 84 yards and three touchdowns to continue his big season. Quarterback Alex Ritzie was perfect on the night going 11-11 with 174 yards and the three TD tosses to Moore. Carter Russo rushed for 102 yards and two touchdowns on only 12 carries.

New Richmond was led by AJ Metger who was 24-45 for 296 yards and rushed six times for 38 yards and a score in a losing effort.
