Cincinnati Round-Up: Badin earns bragging rights

A crosstown rivalry was renewed after over two decades and some Eagles soared to victory in our week one Cincinnati round-up.

24 BADIN 18, NO. 23 HAMILTON 0

Badin started the season strong with a victory over Hamilton. Badin continued their dominance in the regular season as they now have bragging rights in the city for the year.

Rams quarterback Alex Ritzie started the season where he left off a season ago. He threw for two touchdowns and controlled the game as an experienced starter would. The Rams offense worked efficiently and effectively all night long at Virgil Schwarm Stadium making the right plays when they needed to.

The Rams defense put on a superb effort as well as they effectively took Hamilton out of rhythm and anything they wanted to do offensively. The defense was the story of the night as the Rams put on a display of great tackling and playmaking constantly putting Hamilton behind the chains on their way to the big win.

11 MILFORD 42, NO. 22 EDGEWOOD 7

Nathan Webster scored three touchdowns as Milford went on the road to beat Edgewood on Friday night. The Eagles struck early and often as the Cougars had no answer for their potent offense.

The running game was on target early with Webster providing some physical running and the aerial attack was on display as well as quarterback Luke Brand found a bevy of receivers all night to move the ball up and down the field all night.

Edgewood was unable to keep pace with the prolific offense and could never get the offense of their own rolling as they fell to 0-1.

18 LA SALLE 28, NO. 21 COLERAIN 3

The La Salle Lancers ended a nine-game losing streak as they jumped over rival Colerain on Friday night. The Lancers jumped out to a 21-0 lead and never looked back as they gave the home crowd plenty to cheer about after the first quarter.

Isaac Goldschmidt had a six-yard TD run and Max Welter pulled down a receiving touchdown from quarterback Pat McLaughlin to help La Salle get going in the second quarter. The defense was perhaps the strongest suit for the Lancers as they were able to keep Colerain out of the endzone all night and off of the scoreboard entirely until very late in the contest.

The Lancers are hoping to get back to their winning ways after a pair of tough seasons and Friday night’s win was a big step in that direction.
