Cincinnati Round-Up: Princeton pulls through

Control was taken in the race for a GMC title, a longstanding GCL rivalry went down in Dayton, and some Eagles continued to soar in our Cincinnati round-up.

NO. 2 PRINCETON 22, NO. 16 HAMILTON 16
Princeton came away with an instant classic victory on Friday night to remain unbeaten on the season. The Vikings now sit at 4-0 in the league and continue to control their own destiny in their quest for the GMC crown. Princeton made several incredible plays on their final drive to steal away a Hamilton win at home.

DeAndre Birch led the Vikings down the field on the final drive. Princeton won a jump ball on fourth and long and later Birch found Jarmen in the front corner of the endzone for the go ahead score.

Hamilton took the lead after Gracen Goldsmith and RJ Shephard-Ruffin scored back to back touchdowns for the Big Blue. Antonio Mathis led Hamilton at quarterback as he was 11-24, 147 yards and a touchdown.

Princeton’s Birch was 17-23 for 159 yards and a touchdown in the win.


NO. 11 MOELLER 20, NO. 3 ST. XAVIER 10
Moeller won its third consecutive game over rival St. Xavier on Friday night. The Crusaders used a tough defensive effort to hold down the Bombers up at Welcome Stadium in Dayton. Moeller forced five St. Xavier turnovers as the defense turned away the Bombers repeatedly down the stretch.

Moeller took a 14-0 lead into the halftime break and were able to sustain that lead in the second half with their ball control offense. Alex French took a fumble return 20 yards for a score and Jordan Marshall scored on a 3-yard rush to give Moeller the early cushion. Devin Orr tacked on two field goals in the second half to help secure the win.

St. Xavier was held without a touchdown all the way until the 6:39 mark of the fourth quarter.


NO. 8 MILFORD 40, NO. 14 KINGS 21
Tofa Luani scored three touchdowns to lead Milford past Kings on Friday night. The potent Eagles offense continues to light up scoreboards week after week in victory. Luani also led the Eagles with six tackles and had an interception in an all around great game.

MIlford quarterback Luke Brand had a stellar night in the Eagles offense. Brand was 22-29 for 332 yards and 3 touchdowns. He found JP Naylor for two of those scores and another toss was to JaMario Sebastian. On the ground Milford was led by Ashton Warther who had 76 yards and a score of his own.

Kings once led 14-7 early in the ball game but could not keep pace on the offensive end of the ball. Grant Nurre passed for 257 yards and a touchdown to lead Kings in the losing effort. Nate Lyman caught two touchdown passes and had 107 yards receiving for the Knights.


WYOMING 38, TAYLOR 0
The Wyoming Cowboys won their 72nd straight regular-season game, setting a new record for the state of Ohio, as they shut out the Yellow Jackets. Jackson Hamilton led the way for the home team, rushing 18 times for 134 yards and a touchdown. Quaid Hauer added two more scores and finished with 68 yards through the air as the Cowboys cruised to victory.
