Blitz 5 Top 25: Week 10

It’s the last week of the regular season in Ohio, the first round of the playoffs in Indiana and Week 9 in Kentucky and we are one step away from the final poll for the Blitz 5 Top 25 presented by TriStateFootball.com. As the postseason draws near it’s the last chance for teams to make a statement.

There are just three games that have Blitz 5 Top 25 teams taking on each other, #1 Princeton hosts #19 Sycamore, #3 Lakota West is at #14 Hamilton and #7 Elder travels to #17 La Salle. Six other teams in the polls will play teams with winning records.  

Here is a look at the latest Blitz 5 Top 25:

1. Princeton (9-0, 8-0) – LAST WEEK: won at Colerain (0-9, 0-8). 44-7. The Vikings haven’t had a 100-yard rusher since Week 2. NEXT UP: 10/20 – #19 SYCAMORE (5-4, 5-3).

2. East Central (9-0) – LAST WEEK: won at Roncalli (3-6), 41-7. The Trojans have won 15 games in a row. UP NEXT: 10/20 – SHELBYVILLE (3-6), IHSAA Class 4A, Sectional 23 playoffs.

3. Lakota West (7-2, 7-1) – LAST WEEK: beat then #19 MASON (4-5, 4-4), 10-7. The Firebirds’ defense is holding foes to 5.0 points per contest during their current seven game winning streak. NEXT UP: 10/20 – at #14 Hamilton (7-2, 7-1).

4. Milford (9-0, 8-0) – LAST WEEK: beat WEST CLERMONT (3-6, 3-5), 27-0. The Eagles’ defense has pitched three shutouts in the last four weeks and given up just seven points in that span. NEXT UP: 10/20 – TURPIN (3-6, 2-6).

5. Moeller (5-4, 3-0) – LAST WEEK: lost at St. Edward (8-1), 28-21. The Crusaders have just one win outside of the GCL South. NEXT UP: 10/20 – at Detroit Martin Luther King (MI)(4-4).

6. Anderson (8-1, 7-1) – LAST WEEK: won at Turpin (3-6, 2-6), 31-7. Running back Brody Berg has found the endzone 66 times (50 rush, 16 rec) in the last 23 games. NEXT UP: 10/20 – at Kings (5-4, 4-4).

7. Elder (5-4, 1-1) – LAST WEEK: lost at Bishop Chatard (IN)(9-0), 34-7. The Panthers’ offense has been held to seven points in two of their last three tilts. NEXT UP: 10/20 – at #17 La Salle (4-5, 0-2).

8. St. Xavier (5-4, 1-2) – LAST WEEK: won at St. Ignatius (1-8), 21-14, OT. The Bombers are looking for their first three-game winning streak since 2021. NEXT UP: 10/20 – TRINITY CATHOLIC (FL)(1-6).

9. Withrow (8-1, 4-0) – LAST WEEK: won at Hughes (2-7, 1-3), 50-7. The Tigers are allowing just 7.1 points per game. NEXT UP: 10/20 – at Western Hills (4-5, 3-1).

10. Winton Woods (7-2, 6-2) – LAST WEEK: won at Loveland (5-3, 5-2), 21-9. The Warriors have held nine opponents to nine points or less. UP NEXT: 10/20 – at Lebanon (6-3, 5-3).

11. Covington Catholic (8-0, 3-0) – LAST WEEK: beat HARRISON COUNTY (4-4, 1-2), 56-6. The Colonels have outscored their district foes 173-12. NEXT UP: 10/20 – at Mason County (6-2, 3-0).

12. Badin (9-0, 4-0) – LAST WEEK: won at Chaminade Julienne (6-3, 2-2), 27-13. The Rams have clinched the #1 seed for the Division III, Region 12 playoffs. NEXT UP: 10/20 – at McNicholas (5-4, 3-1).

13. Highlands (8-1, 4-0) – LAST WEEK: beat CONNER (4-5, 1-3), 58-7. The Bluebirds have 35 touchdown receptions. Twelve players have touchdown catches and no one has more than six. UP NEXT: 10/19 – at Scott (2-6, 1-3).

14. Hamilton (7-2, 7-1) – LAST WEEK: won at the #18 Sycamore (5-4, 5-3), 28-21. The Big Blue picks up their first victory over a team with a winning record. NEXT UP: 10/20 – #4 LAKOTA WEST (7-2, 7-1).

15.Taft (7-2, 3-1) – LAST WEEK: won at Aiken (2-7, 1-3), 41-0. The Senators have posted back-to-back shutouts. NEXT UP: 10/19 – WOODWARD (1-8, 0-4).

16. Beechwood (8-1, 4-0) – LAST WEEK: won at Carroll County (5-4, 3-1), 55-0. The Tigers are averaging 50.1 points per game. NEXT UP: 10/20 – BRACKEN COUNTY (5-3, 2-2).

17. La Salle (4-5, 0-2) – LAST WEEK: lost at Detroit Catholic Central (MI)(6-2), 35-28, OT. The Lancers are 0-5 versus teams with winning records. NEXT UP: 10/20 – #7 ELDER (5-4, 1-1).

18. Cooper (7-2, 3-1) – LAST WEEK: beat BOONE COUNTY (1-7, 0-4), 49-7. Quarterback Cam O’Hara is completing 68.4% of his passes for 2,079 yards with 30 touchdown tosses and only four interceptions. NEXT UP: 10/20 – DIXIE HEIGHTS (4-4, 3-1).

19. Sycamore (5-4, 5-3) – LAST WEEK: lost to #14 HAMILTON (7-2, 7-1), 28-21. The Aviators have scored 21 points or more eight times. NEXT UP: 10/20 – at #1 Princeton (9-0, 8-0).

20. Clinton-Massie (9-0, 4-0) – LAST WEEK: won at Batavia (3-6, 1-3), 48-0. The Falcons have clinched the #1 seed for the Division IV, Region 16 playoffs. NEXT UP: 10/20 – NEW RICHMOND, (5-4, 1-3).

21. Mason (4-5, 4-4) – LAST WEEK: lost at then #4 Lakota West (7-2, 7-1), 10-7. The Comets are 0-5 against teams with winning records. NEXT UP: 10/20 – LAKOTA EAST (1-8, 1-7).

22. Harrison (6-3, 2-0) – LAST WEEK: lost to BISHOP WATTERSON (9-0), 48-13. All three of the Wildcats’ losses are to teams that are 9-0. NEXT UP: 10/20 – at Northwest (1-8, 0-2).

23. Mount Healthy (7-2, 2-1) – LAST WEEK: won at Talawanda (2-7, 1-2), 46-9. The Owls are 1-2 versus teams with winning records. NEXT UP: 10/20 – WAVERLY (6-3).

24. Wilmington (7-3, 3-1) – LAST WEEK: won at New Richmond (5-4, 1-3), 50-15. The only two losses for the Cane are to #23 Mount Healthy and #20 Clinton-Massie. NEXT UP: 10/20 – WESTERN BROWN (3-6, 2-2).

25. Simon Kenton (5-2, 2-0) – LAST WEEK: beat CAMPBELL COUNTY (2-6, 0-2), 27-21. Junior running back Durell Turner is averaging 164.1 yards per game rushing with 12 touchdowns. NEXT UP: 10/20 – at Ryle (4-4, 2-0).
