Cincinnati Round-Up: Hamilton makes history

Hamilton won their first playoff game in school history and Winton Woods flexed their muscles in a tough win in our Cincinnati round-up.

DIVISION I, REGION 4

NO. 7 HAMILTON 13, NO. 10 SYCAMORE 10
Hamilton won its first playoff game in school history with a gritty home win over Sycamore. The Big Blue beat the Aviators for the second time in three weeks and this one was a close battle just as their first meeting.

Postgame Interview: Arvie Crouch, Hamilton

R.J Shephard-Ruffin returned a punt 85 yards for a touchdown for Hamilton and Antonio Mathis tossed a 21-yard touchdown pass to Nick Lindsey for the scoring for the Big Blue. The Hamilton defense only allowed a Gio Garrett touchdown reception as they had a terrific game on the defensive side of the ball. 

Hamilton advances to face Princeton in the second round.

NO. 6 WINTON WOODS 12, NO. 11 LA SALLE 6
Tyler Gooding scored the go-ahead touchdown with a 12-yard run to lift Winton Woods over LaSalle on Friday night. The Warriors protected their home field and keep their hopes of repeating as Division II state champion alive. Winton Woods won this game on the defensive side of the ball as they held down the Lancer offense all night long.

Postgame Interview: Chad Murphy, Winton Woods

The Warriors also blocked a 40-yard field goal that was returned 50 yards for a touchdown by Donmiel Rogers. This sequence really shifted the tone and momentum of the game as La Salle has controlled everything up until that point. The Warriors advance to play Withrow next week.

Indian Hill prevailed in a first-round game over Reading. The Braves survived a great effort from the Blue Devils to survive on their home field. 

After racing out to a 17-0 lead, Indian Hill had to come from behind after Reading scored 21 unanswered points to take a four-point advantage.

The CHL rivals battled to the very end as Indian Hill pulled out the win to advance to the second round.
