- Updated: November 15, 2023
Moeller running back Jordan Marshall has been named the 2023 OPSWA Division I Southwest District Offensive Player of the Year. This is Marshall’s second consecutive player of the year award as he took home honors in 2022 as well.
The senior has rushed for 1,369 yards and 15 touchdowns to lead the Crusaders (9-4) to their third straight regional final appearance. He has also caught 24 balls for 333 yards and four touchdowns. Marshall has topped the 100-yard mark in nine of the 11 games that he has played this season. He will head to the University of Michigan next year.
Centerville’s Reggie Powers and Princeton’s P.J. Nelson were named OPSWA Southwest District Co-Defensive players of the year. Powers helped a good Centerville defense with 82 tackles including 7.5 for loss and two interceptions. The Oklahoma commit had six or more tackles in ten games this season.
Nelson led a stout Princeton defense with 89 tackles and a whopping 12 sacks. He had 23.5 tackles for loss, 5 forced fumbles, and a fumble return for a touchdown while helping the Vikings to an undefeated regular season and GMC title. The junior’s offer list includes Boston College, West Virginia, Illinois, and Michigan among others.
Lance Schneider of Miamisburg and Arvie Crouch of Hamilton were named Co-Coaches of the year. Schneider led Miamisburg to an 8-4 record and first round playoff win. It was the school’s first playoff win since 2016.
Crouch guided Hamilton to heights unseen in his second year at the helm. The Big Blue finished 8-4 which was good for a third place finish in the GMC and secured the school’s first ever playoff win.
