NKY Round-Up: Cooper rolls
- Updated: August 30, 2024
Offense was the theme tonight as several teams lit up the Kentucky scoreboard. Cooper continued their strong rise as a program and Ryle stayed undefeated in our NKY Round-Up.
NO. 25 BEECHWOOD 42, CAMPBELL COUNTY 20
Two of the better offenses in Kentucky went to battle as Beechwood and Campbell County went to battle on Friday night. The Tigers and Camels showed off their athletes and precision in their offensive game plans. Camels quarterback Lucas Anthrop backed up his week one performance as he hooked up with tight end Garyn Jackson for a pair of scores in the first half. Jackson also had two interceptions to help the Camels defense.
Beechwood seemed to have just a little too much in their repertoire. Clay Hayden put together a great all-around game to lead the Tigers to a hard-earned win.
NO. 7 COOPER 41 HENRY CLAY 0
Cooper led Henry Clay 41-0 at the half and the running clock was in full effect. Cam O’Hara led the offense to a blitzing of Henry Clay as they had no answer for the robust offensive attack. Keagan Maher scored two touchdowns in the half to help aid the Jaguars’ efforts on the road. Jaidan Combs scored three touchdowns and Isaiah Johnson added a score as well as this one was never in doubt.
NO. 16 RYLE 46, CONNER 8
Ryle jumped out to a 36-0 lead and started the running clock in a rout of Conner on Friday night. The Raiders were running on all cylinders from the start and never looked back as they moved to 2-0 on the short season.
Nathan Verax threw for two early touchdowns and Jacob Savage caught a touchdown and rushed for another to blow the game open by halftime. Landon Lorms also hauled in a first half touchdown as Conner was unable to put a stop to the barrage of points. Ryle will look to continue their great start in week three.
